Bart Bevins

Bart Bevins’ professional life is centered on small business lending and loan program development, with some side trips into federal and state government policy development.

Bart has a lot of favorite parks but is particularly fond of Mattocks (his neighborhood park), Rice, Summit Overlook, Como, and the Mississippi Gorge Regional Park.

Bart is involved with the Saint Paul Parks Conservancy because of his belief that city parks can help keep the people in touch with the natural world and give them a place to recreate, learn and reflect. As an Eastern Kentucky University study noted, parks are a tangible reflection of the quality of life of a community. They are a major factor in the perception of quality of life in a given city and are one of the most important factors in judging how livable communities are.

In addition to the SPPC, Bart is currently Treasurer of the Creative Enterprise Zone, a nonprofit supporting the creative business community in the Raymond-University Avenue area of Saint Paul.

Bart previously served on the boards of Face to Face, a nonprofit agency providing health care and education services to at-risk youth (2007 to 2011); the Newell Hill Music Foundation, which provided after-school arts education programs for at-risk children (2004 to 2006); and the Whittier Community Development Corporation, a community economic development organization in Minneapolis (2000 to 2005). Bart also served on the Saint Paul Charter Commission (1992 to 1996), which considers and recommends changes to the city’s governmental charter.
