Garth Morrisette is a former board chair of the St Paul Parks Conservancy and enthusiastic supporter of the park system. Garth grew up in a family of eight in Springfield Oregon and was a product of the Willamalane Park system in Springfield. “When I was a kid growing up, the park system in my hometown was one of the most important resources for giving me a place to play and grow. I’m so grateful for neighborhood parks.”
Garth became involved with the Conservancy in 2010 while it was still in its infancy. “I’ve seen the Conservancy go through its own growing pains as it found a place in the Community and struggled to find a foothold. Newly formed non-profit organizations are fragile and take time to mature. I’m so grateful that so many folks have joined in to support the organization. Kudos to Michael-jon and the current board for taking the Conservancy to the next level.”
Garth is also connected with his family foundation, the McNeely Foundation. “The McNeely Foundation’s mission is to support the East Side of St. Paul and that includes supporting targeted parks and recreation projects. Swede Hollow is one of those projects.” “My hope is that the Conservancy continues to provide that extra little effort and push that makes good neighborhood parks great. Every neighborhood in St. Paul deserves a great park.”
