Friends of Mears Park is a volunteer-led park friends group working with the Saint Paul Parks Conservancy and Saint Paul Parks and Recreation to care for one of downtown’s most beloved public spaces.
Since 1992, neighbors, businesses, gardeners, and park lovers have helped Mears Park thrive through hands-on volunteer care and private support. Donations help fund spring plantings, garden tools, hanging baskets, holiday lights, tree and stream needs, and other enhancements that keep the park welcoming through every season.
Whether you live nearby, work downtown, attend Lowertown Sounds or the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, walk your dog through the park, or simply love this green oasis in the city, you are part of the Mears Park community.
Together, we can keep Mears Park beautiful, active, and welcoming for everyone.

About Friends of mears park
Friends of Mears Park is an all-volunteer sponsored nonprofit organization started in 1992 to care for and maintenance of Mears Park.
Mears Park continues to be a core for activities that celebrates life in the city. Most notably The Twin Cities Jazz Festival, along with Thursday night’s music Lowertown Sounds. All that increased activity can be stressful for the park and gardens. Approximately 50 Gardeners volunteer their time for planting, weeding, watering, and tending to their flower gardens. Many spend their own money on additional plants for their garden plots (and your support helps!). Funding supports the garden tools, equipment, signage, and spring plantings. We have helped raise funds for tree replacement and repairs to the stream. Each year we coordinate and help pay for holiday lighting including design, display, and maintenance.
