Thanks to a 2024 AARP Community Challenge Grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Minnesota, Kennedy Park will undergo a remarkable transformation into a vibrant, multi-generational hub as part of West St. Paul’s new Park System Plan.
A New Vision for Kennedy Park
The refreshed Kennedy Park will feature accessible trails connecting four entry points, nature-based play spaces, and innovative hillside slides that embrace the park’s natural landscape. At its heart, a central playground and shaded picnic shelter will serve as gathering spots for all ages.
Additional enhancements include:
- Pollinator prairies and 40 new trees for beauty and environmental health.
- Open lawn areas and the beloved sledding hill, preserved for play and relaxation.
- New resting spots, art displays, historical elements, and play zones along the park’s edges.
These changes will create a space that fosters connection, celebrates nature, and welcomes everyone.
