Raspberry Island Bandshell

The Raspberry Island Bandshell is getting a much-needed renovation to host a band concert and an exciting Latinx Public Art Installation this summer.

The Saint Paul Parks Conservancy is thrilled to announce that construction on the restoration of the iconic Raspberry Island Bandshell is set to begin as soon as spring 2025. Thanks to a major grant from Ecolab, the funding gap has been narrowed to just $50,000—bringing us closer to restoring this remarkable riverfront landmark.

Originally designed by renowned architect and glass artist James Carpenter, the bandshell has been a beacon of beauty and music on the Mississippi River since 2002. However, years of exposure to the elements and vandalism have left the structure in need of repair. The restoration will not only address safety concerns but also return the bandstand to its former glory as a sought-after destination for weddings, concerts, and community events.

With $175,000 secured from the City’s Common Cent program and Ecolab’s generous contribution, the project is shovel-ready. The Conservancy has worked closely with the original architect to ensure the restoration respects the bandstand’s award-winning design, which earned national acclaim in the Public Landscape Design Category in 2009.

To help close the remaining $50,000 funding gap, we invite community members, businesses, and supporters of Saint Paul’s parks to contribute. Every dollar brings us closer to revitalizing this iconic space and anchoring the vibrancy of Saint Paul’s riverfront.
