Kennedy Park

Neighborhood: Historic 40 Acres

Amount Needed: $250,000

Project Partners: West St. Paul Parks and Recreation, AARP

The City of West St. Paul has been awarded a 2024 AARP Community Challenge Grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Minnesota! With this support, we’re excited to transform Kennedy Park into a vibrant, multi-generational hub for our community—launching big changes as part of West St. Paul’s new Park System Plan.

The refreshed Kennedy Park will feature all-new accessible trails connecting four entry points, nature-based play spaces, and hillside slides using the park’s natural topography. The central playground and shaded picnic shelter will become gathering spots for all ages, while pollinator prairies and 40 new trees add beauty and environmental benefits. The park’s design preserves beloved open lawn areas and the sledding hill while adding resting spots, art displays, historical elements, and unique play zones along the park’s edges.

With your support, we can create a space designed to engage residents of all ages and bring Kennedy Park’s new vision to life.
