Pedro Park
Neighborhoods: Downtown
Completed! Amount Raised: $1,500,000
Project Partners: City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation
Pedro Park is now a vibrant new downtown green space, officially opened on September 4, 2025.
Pedro Park transforms the former site of the old luggage store and Public Safety Annex into an inviting, nearly one-acre urban oasis for neighbors, workers, and visitors.
Key amenities now in place:
- A custom play structure for children.
- Downtown Saint Paul’s first synthetic-turf dog run — perfect for pet owners living or working downtown.
- A spacious pavilion and performance area for gatherings, events, and community celebrations.
- Shaded seating/gathering areas, expansive gardens, and public art that honor the legacy of the original park site.
A Long-Held Dream Fulfilled
After decades of community advocacy and careful planning, Pedro Park officially brings to life a decades-long vision for a downtown green space. The original site was donated by the Pedro family, and following the demolition of the old Safety Annex in 2023, the city moved forward with park reconstruction and expansion.
Funding came from a mix of public and private sources — including state bonding, city funds, HUD grants, the Common Cent sales tax, private fundraising, and sustained support from Saint Paul Parks Conservancy and the volunteer group Friends of Pedro Park.
We’re thrilled to see this long-awaited park finally open — and look forward to watching it flourish as a vibrant public space for St. Paul’s downtown.
