New benches for the historic promenade are ripe for naming.
Como Lakeside Pavilion is a jewel. If you’ve sat on the moveable benches for a concert or play lately, you know they are worn (and often wind up in the lake thanks to high winds or hijinks). The Saint Paul Parks Conservancy is partnering with Como District 10 and Saint Paul Parks and Rec to replace the worn-out benches on the Promenade in 2024 and 2025. The new benches will be easy to maintain, complement the historic look of the building, and, best of all, carry the name of someone you care about who shares your love of this extraordinary park! The new benches will be long-lasting, sustainable white polywood in a classic Chippendale style that is far easier for park operations to maintain. Over time, hundreds of visitors, concertgoers, and neighbors enjoying the lakeside view will enjoy your bench.
