Mears Park Campaign Kicks Off

Bench dedications are available to help refurbish key park elements.

Mears Park is a jewel – let’s polish it up!

Friends of Mears Park and the Saint Paul Parks Conservancy are partnering with Saint PaulParks and Rec to make much-needed repairs in this beloved downtown oasis. If you’re a fan of Lowertown Sounds or the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, then you know how popular this green space is for community gatherings. Time, weather, and all those music lovers have taken a toll on the park’s infrastructure.

The first projects on the list include:

  • Replacing failing retaining walls (slated for Fall 2023)
  • Refurbishing benches to return them to like new condition (slated for 2024)
  • Working with the City on options to replace worn and broken pavers

Tax-deductible gifts from friends like you will help meet the private match for City dollars. Gifts to the Mears Park Campaign can be made with cash (checks or securely online), IRA Distributions, or stock transfers. Please give today.

Put your name or the name of someone you love on a bench in Mears Park!

$3,500 refurbishes and dedicates a bench to dedicate in honor of someone you love. You may also donate to help the Friends dedicate a bench to the late Lee Ann LaBore. You can make your bench dedication gift online here.

If you are dedicating a bench to be refurbished, we will contact you to confirm the bench location and wording for the plaque.

Please note that dedications are for ten years and may be renewed at a lower rate when the dedication expires.
