250 mighty volunteers built a new playground at Dunning Park in the rain.
The playground build was a partnership with Saint Paul Parks Conservancy, Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, Sierra, UnitedHealthcare, and KABOOM! ! Despite less than ideal weather, volunteers got the work done on Friday, October 13.
This project was also made possible with additional funds from Cub Scout Pack 13 and the Midway Lions Club. It launches “Equal Play” initiative by the Conservancy to build 17 new playgrounds in under-invested neighborhoods over the next five years.
The playground as designed with input from the young people who play at Dunning, gathered during a special design day in August. Professional designers took their ideas for items like a “zip line” and translated them into safe, modern equipment that will last for the next 15-20 years.
