Bad Luck Ball Creates Good Luck for Park

Parks fans came to play at Scott & Zelda’s Bad Luck Ball on Friday, September 13. Local artist Jeanne Kosfeld sold “sidewalk sketches” to partygoers as they mingled with park staff to learn about access programs like free swim and water safety lessons. More than a few folks cut a rug to the Dixieland jazz sounds of Miss Myra and the Moonshiners.

It was inspiring to hear the story of Antwon Kimmons who grew up as a “rec kid” and went on to earn a basketball scholarship at a Division 1 university. Back in Saint Paul, he coaches basketball at Frogtown Community Center and just started his master’s degree in Psychology with a focus on trauma and resilience. You know he’s bringing magic to the program when it grows from 9 to 23 kids under his leadership! A special paddle raise during the event raised $2,380 to support his program.

All told, $77,500 of good was created for our parks.

It’s not too late to make your gift and bring the total to $80,000! Give today.
